YOU ARE ESSENTIAL Concert Benefiting The Trevor Project

By | Uncategorized

Come and join us for, “You Are Essential,” a benefit concert. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit The Trevor Project.  The concert line up will include Ryan Berg, Leighton Fields, Cody Jasper and Recent Rumors.
Founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award ®-winning short film TREVOR, The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25.

Ryan Berg: Ryan Berg & The Velvet Ears are an acoustic driven Blues/Jazz band from Dallas Texas. The project began when singer-songwriter Ryan Berg moved back to his hometown from San Marcos, Texas. Shortly after, Ryan began playing duos around the metroplex with lead guitarist, Glen Fleischman throughout 2014 when they met drummer, Charles Alexander. Since then, The Velvet Ears expanded it’s perimeters by collaborating with local artists like Nick Snyder, Patrick Smith, Matt McClellan, Kirk Hampton, as well as Austin, Texas band, The Mammoths. In 2016 The Velvet Ears began working with Ken Welker of 13th Floor Music, DFW booking agency. In the Summer of 2017 Ryan Berg & The Velvet Ears were pleased to announce the release of their debut full-length album titled “The Velvet Ears”. After the release of the album, “Molly Miss My” was featured on Dallas local radio station, 91.7 KTX. In 2018, Berg was announced runner up in KXT’s listeners favorite vote. Since then, The Velvet Ears play weekly around the DFW metroplex at venues like; The Rustic, The Free Man, Granada Theater, etc…

Leighton Fields:  There’s only so much for a musician to do in the farming community of Lenorah, Texas. He was surrounded by a mother that constantly sang hymns, a father that blared Led Zeppelin, a Tommy Dorsey record of his grandfathers, and an older brother that introduced him to punk rock. Somewhere in the mix he came across Sam Cooke, and that was the icing on the very diverse cake. Leighton joined his first band when he was 13 years old, and has been performing ever since. Two bands later, and after years of shuffling around from Midland, to Lubbock, a few months of living in a purple minivan, Leighton found his home in Dallas. He quickly became acquainted with his now producer, Jason Burt, and is getting ready to release a debut single in November, as well as an EP in the spring of 2018.

Cody Jasper: Born in Jacksonville, Florida and raised in Amarillo, Texas, Cody Jasper left home at seventeen and started playing nightclubs in Colorado and Texas before he was old enough to drink legally. “I call that earning my stripes in the Rock n Roll scene.” Cody left Denver for Austin’s famed Sixth Street where he played sets almost every night of the week. He went on international tours that included stops in Los Angeles and London, England when he was twenty-two.
Now with twelve years of live performance experience he remains an artist who is inspired by his atmosphere, absorbing the music, the moods and the emotions of any environment he passes through. He recently relocated from Dallas, to Los Angeles, for a brief stay and in full circle fashion, he is now back in his birth state of Florida. “It’s about Southern Rock and the Allman Brothers.” Going back to his roots helped him find his musical niche.
Cody is now preparing his second album for release later in 2019. There will be several genres of musical styles included. “The songs on the record I’m putting out now is what I want to put out. I’m confident about it. It’s all me. It’s all honest songwriting. It’s all things I’ve been through, just like usual.”

Recent Rumors:  Recent Rumors is a pop rock band from Dallas, Texas that want to unite a generation of world changers through music. Josh, Tymothy, and Alex came together to write and perform unforgettable material that will do more than just stay in your brain. Recent Rumors hopes to create experiences to inspire people by promoting love, positivity, passion and equality.

Josh Weathers at The Epic Theater

Official Partner: Texas Trust Credit Union

The Epic Theater is proud to present “An Acoustic Evening with Josh Weathers.”   In 2013,  After a recorded clip of him singing “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston went viral on YouTube, Weathers has since been a rising star.  In 2011, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram called him “the hardest working man in local music.”  He even performed at the Salute To Our Armed Services Ball as part of the Presidential Inauguration weekend.

In 2014, Weathers actually left music to focus on more philanthropic efforts, then returned to the craft last year when he realized music will help those efforts. Those efforts have materialized into The “Love Like You Mean It” nonprofit, which is dedicated to “changing the treatment of young girls and women in India who, [at] as young as 5 years old, are cast into sex and slave trafficking.”

On May 17th, The Fort Worth bluesman will perform an acoustic set in what’s likely to be the highest-profiled gig to date for The Epic Theater. Come support Josh in an intimate, acoustic setting as he sings all of his greatest hits.
