YOUTH PROGRAMS & EVENTS

The Epic looks forward to unlocking opportunities for the youth by providing classes, programs, and camps that improve a wide variety of skills. All throughout the year, you can choose from a multitude of offerings to find the right fit for your child. One great part about The Epic is that all of the amenities in our facility can accommodate youth programs in fitness, athletics, aquatics, arts, theater, music, and much more!

PROGRAMAS PARA JÓVENES

A+ Dance

A+ Dance helps children learn cutting edge dance moves through modern and praise dance with an urban feel.  Students will participate in multiple performances throughout the year and will focus on developing holistic fitness, character and confidence.

Dancing Little Stars

Dancing Little Stars has been serving the DFW area since 1997. Our dance instruction focuses on poise, concentration, memory and balance using a custom curriculum, various props, special effects and rewards for great dancing! Your little dancer will learn ballet, tap and hip hop techniques. There will be a year end dance recital with a quality costume and a trophy.

BALLET & TAP COMBO
About: This 45-minute ballet and tap class will introduce and teach the fundamentals, while keeping it fun with props and teaching aides during class. We give out rewards such as hand stickers/stamps and “sweet treats” for good listeners/dancers.  Ballet and Tap shoes are required.

BALLET / HIP HOP
About: This is a 35-minute ballet hip hop class focuses on ballet stretching, terminology and techniques. Ballet is the foundation of all dance genres.  Next we add fun exciting street dance moves to high energy, age appropriate music. Hip hop dance helps develop your child’s rhythm, muscle coordination and overall cardiovascular health while having a blast! Fun props and treats are used as rewards for great dancing!  Regular street clothing and street tennis shoes are acceptable for Hip hop,   Ballet slippers recommended,

Technique and Tumble

The Technique and Tumble program focuses on training students who are interested in learning acrobatic tumbling skills that could be used in dance, cheer or gymnastics.

Karate - TaeKwonDo

The Epic is proud to host the longest continuing Karate school in the DFW area (est. 1963), The Martial Arts Black Belt Association.  The school’s instructor is Bill Simpson (9th Degree Blackbelt). Bill holds many State and National Titles in Kumite and Kata and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Martial Arts Black Belt Association.  Students will learn Karate and traditional Tae Kwon Do at all levels from white belt to black belt.
You may always drop in and try one class at no charge.

Wiggle Wednesdays

Wiggle Wednesdays: Adaptive & Inclusive Play For Kids!
Children of all abilities are invited to enjoy an evening of fun and socializing while exploring a variety of activities in The Epic Art Room. This program strives to create an atmosphere of inclusiveness and adaptivity, allowing any student of any ability to participate in a relaxing and safe environment as a way to explore, play, learn and develop skills while having fun together.

Ages 4 – 8 years old only, caretakers required to accompany students.

Summer Art Camps

Art Camp is all about teaching your student about different artistic techniques. Your student will learn through this specialty camp about a different aspect of art through all three weeks of the program. While the units are intended to build on one another, they can also be experienced as separate blocks.

Art Camp: STEAMVenture – June 10 – 14
STEAMVenture great way to introduce your child to the wonderful world of art and science! This week will be filled with hands-on fun and collaborative learning experiences as well as design challenges that are experimental and project – based, including a field trip to the Perot Museum.

Art Camp: A Trip Around the World – June 17 – 21
Keep your passport ready and race around the world! This art-making adventure is the perfect way for students to explore different places of the world. Over the course of a week, students will learn important fundamentals about drawing, sculpting, and painting, including a field trip to the Kimbell Museum.

Art Camp: Animanga – June 24 – 28
In this manga-inspired cartooning camp, Students will create their own Comic, animation, and manga illustrations. This one week of Animanga explores the exciting world of comic stories, cartooning and drawing styles, including a field trip to the National Videogame Museum

Culinary Camp: Culinary 101 Scratch Kitchen – July 8 – 12
This specialty camp is designed to build your student’s confidence in the kitchen by teaching the foundations of cooking through the foods they eat every day. Including a field trip to the Dallas Arboretum ‘Tasteful Place’ Garden, students will get to see a professional cooking demo and learn more about farm-to-table food. This course is great for complete beginners to the kitchen.

Culinary Camp: World Flavors – July 15 – 19
This specialty camp is designed to introduce students to cuisines from around the world, including South and Central America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Southeast Asia. Finally, students well get the opportunity to tour the manufacturing plant at Barcel USA, a member of Grupo Bimbo, famous for making the popular “Takis” snack! This course is great for intermediate skill levels.

Culinary Camp: Creating Your Own Menu – July 22 – 26
This specialty camp is designed to allow students the freedom to experiment in the kitchen and create their own three course menu from start to finish, guided by student guided instruction. After presenting their very own menus, they’ll get to have a career day with Las Mochicas Donuts, a local food truck, and learn how the skills they learned translate to the restaurant world! This program is great for allowing students to get creative and promote independence in the kitchen.
