Grand Prairie Camp Info:

The Grand Prairie Arts, Parks and Rec offers unique summer camps for residents and non-residents. Our recreation facilities provide a variety of summer camp activities and field trips for ages 6-15. Each camp is a one of a kind experience, offering sprawling landscapes, historical neighborhoods and a prestigious award winning program that is nationally accredited and a National Gold Medal Award recipient, recognizing our collaborative efforts to create Raving Fans of both members and visitors!

What They Offer:

  • A summer experience to grow socially in confidence, maturity and self esteem.
  • Daily Schedule filled with plenty of activities such as gym sports, video gaming, outside adventures, arts and crafts, culinary experiences, dancing, singing and more!
  • Weekly Aquatic Trips, life vests available.
  • Family Weeks: Come support your camper at our Thearte and Dance Showcase and Olympic Week
  • Volunteer Opportunities available, pending background checks.
  • Free Lunch and Snack Program to all camp participants.

Fees:

Registration: $37 per camp
Resident: $125 weekly
Non Resident: $135 weekly
Financial assistance available to those that qualify.

ABOUT

Camp Epic is fun youth day camp for children 5-15 years of age and is offered during GPISD holiday breaks. Campers will enjoy playing recreational games, swimming, doing arts and crafts and exploring the Epic’s many amenities. Register early as space is limited.

DATES & TIMES

Summer Camp:
June 3 – August 9, 2024

  • 7:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. (rise and shine programming)
  • 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (mid-day programming)
  • 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (wind down programming)

COST

Summer
Registration fee: $25
Epic Member: $150 per week
Non-member: $175 per week

  • Camp fees are based on enrollment, days/weeks are not prorated, full/partial participation is the same price.
  • Child must be either an Epic Youth Member or Epic Family Member to receive the member discount.
  • Payment in full is due at the time of registration. There are no auto drafts for holiday camps.
  • To receive a refund for a week of camp, the request must be made 7 days prior to the start of registered week.
  • To cancel a week of camp, the request must be made by email to jwcolon@gptx.org, 7 days prior to the start of registered week.
  • There is a $25 cancellation fee.

Financial assistance is available through the Community Block Development Grant. The application closes on May 17. Application in Forms/Documents.

Registration Steps:

  1. Select the age group of your child or first child you would like to register. This will take you to an information page.  Click “Enroll Now” which will take you to a sign-in page unless you are already logged in.
  2. Login: IF YOU ARE A MEMBER, DO NOT CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT!   If you are a member or have participated in programs at the Epic, use the email you have on file with the Epic.  If you do not know what that email is, please see camp contacts at the bottom of this page or contact Guest Services at 972-339-3742.
  3. Password: You may reset your password if you do not know it. If it is not sent to your email, then contact us to make sure we have the right email on file.
  4. If you are not a member or have never done an activity at the Epic, please create a new account.
  5. Select age group and then the weeks you would like to register your child for. Make sure to register for all the weeks you want otherwise if they become full you will be placed on a waiting list.

AGE GROUPS

Ages: 5-15

  • Group 1: Ages 5-6
  • Group 2: Ages 7-8
  • Group 3: Ages 9-10
  • Group 4: Ages 11-12
  • Teen Camp: Ages 13-15

Counselor to camper ratio: 1:12

LUNCH & SNACK

Lunch Time: 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Lunch is provided by the parent. Please pack a disposable sacked lunch that does not require a refrigerator or microwave.

Snack Time: 3:30 p.m.

One snack will be provided per day. There will not be any snacks with nuts. Please be sure to pack extra snacks if your child has any food allergies, intolerances, or specific preferences.

Lunch and snack times are approximate.

SWIM TIME

Swim Time: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Swim days for each age group are TBA

Make sure to pack swimwear, a change of clothes & a towel.  Outside pool toys are not allowed.

What to Expect:
Campers will have 4 options:

  • Option 1: Parent/Guardian requires that the child always wear a lifejacket while swimming.
  • Option 2: Parent/Guardian chooses to have their child take a swim test to be in the water without the lifejacket. Those who do not pass the swim test will be required to wear a life jacket.
  • Option 3: Parent/Guardian allows their child to bypass the swim test and be in the water without a lifejacket. Lifeguards have final say and if they deem that a child needs a lifejacket, a lifejacket will be required.
  • Option 4: Parent/Guardian does not allow their child to swim.

Those that need lifejackets are tagged with a specific color wrist band, and those that don’t will receive a different color wrist band.
